Biography

David W. Switzer, M.D. practices full-time retina surgery in his hometown of Billings, MT. His vitreoretinal surgery training in New York City was of the finest academic caliber. However, his true calling was clinical practice providing medical and surgical care of macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinal vein and arterial occlusions, and diabetic retinopathy, among others. While outside the office, Dr. Switzer’s life focuses on raising a beautiful growing family with his loving wife. They enjoy skiing, hiking, and traveling.

“My love of ophthalmology dates back to high school. My wife’s father, George F. Hatch Jr., M.D., introduced me to the relatively unknown world of eye surgery. I was also fortunate to enter the subspecialized field of retina surgery under the tutelage of some of the country’s highest caliber professors. The capability to mesh this level of academic training with the joy of delivering eyesight-saving procedures is what keeps me coming to work every day. That I am practicing in a renaissance of
blossoming discoveries of new medicines and surgical techniques is a blessing from above.”
